Indiana child care: a newer public source

The Indiana FSSA October 2026 directory lists 773 licensed centers in the retrieved snapshot. A fresh October 30 comparison found the same 773 facility IDs and an identical source file hash. We mapped 557 using exact Census address matches with matching Indiana ZIP codes and plausible coordinates. The remaining 216 are excluded from map locations because matching was ambiguous, non-exact, unsuccessful or failed validation. They may still matter near your address.

Census coordinates are estimated along address ranges, not surveyed buildings or verified facility boundaries. A directory listing does not establish that a particular legal restriction applies. This snapshot is manually refreshed; it is not a live license-status connection. Snapshots older than 35 days are flagged by the scanner.

A known gap: licensed homes

FSSA states that Indiana law prohibits publishing licensed child care home addresses in this directory. We import no home-provider records and do not reconstruct withheld addresses. Registered ministries and other youth-program categories are not covered by the center snapshot. Consult the official child care finder and the appropriate authority about what can be confirmed.

Other map sources

Public-school locations use the federal 2023–2024 feed; private schools use 2021–2022. Park and trail layers come from government and Esri-hosted services. OpenStreetMap supplies community-mapped candidates; tags do not prove licensing or legal classification. The old Indiana circa-2018 and national circa-2021 child care archive feeds have been retired from this scanner.

Parcel lookup is supported only for Indiana and Maryland; other states use estimated map locations. Even available parcel records may omit or misidentify grounds. Distances are approximate straight-line estimates, not an official measurement. An unavailable map service and a permanent coverage gap are different problems; retrying cannot supply withheld or unreviewed information.

Legal summaries need verification

The state reference summaries came from the project handoff and have not completed current primary-source and qualified legal review. They are not verified nationwide rules. Start with the official Indiana Code when applicable, then confirm current law and your personal conditions with a qualified adviser and the relevant authority.

Before signing or moving

  1. Confirm the exact address and applicable personal, state and local restrictions.
  2. Check unmapped centers, licensed home care, schools, youth programs and facilities whose grounds extend beyond map points.
  3. Obtain any necessary official measurement or written approval. Do not submit victim identities or addresses to this app.

Download the public center snapshot and provenance. Report errors to [email protected]; include the public facility and source, not private case details.
